To get into the Halloween spirit, students are creating their own spooky tale based on pictures from the book, The Mysteries of Harris Burdick by Chris Van Allsburg. The inspiration for their stories include "Under the Rug", "Mr. Linden's Library", and "Just Desert".
Each class was shown a different picture and asked to jot down their observations. Part of the fun was seeing and hearing students' reactions as small details were shown one at a time until finally, the entire image was revealed.
Tomorrow in class, I look forward to being frightened when they each share their spooky tale. A special thanks to Mrs. Irish for creating a festive "Scare-A-Mony" decoration for my podium!
Have a Happy Halloween!
