This week, students took a test on the first half of the unit. Since students have practiced identifying them, they'll now focus on using verbs correctly in their writing.
Next week, we'll continue our study with subject-verb agreement. Why must these words agree? Per our discussion just today, it's all about agreeing in number and using our ears to guide us.

This book of humorous poems (make/makes) a good gift.
* Leave out phrase that follows the subject...(of humorous poems)
* Find the subject...book
*Read the phrase to yourself. Listen to what makes sense...book makes
