Courageous Character Book Project

Students have chosen a book to read independently that fits into the current ELA unit, "Courageous Characters." As they read, they will track the main character's personality, conflict he/she is facing, and eventually, the courageous action taken by him/her.

The guidelines for the project includes:
*Collect notes on the Courageous Characters graphic organizer (g.o.) wkst.  This was shared with students via a paper copy and shared for access through their student Google Drive account.

*Stay on track with reading and taking notes.  The 2 check-in dates for the completion and quality of their notes are Fri., 3/14 & Fri., 3/21.  If a student does not receive credit for the book check, he/she is expected to make revisions and show them to me in order to receive credit.

*Successfully complete all of the notes and create a Glogster presentation.  Work days on the computer are the week of 4/7-4/10.

*All project info is available from 6th Grade File Cabinet web page/ELA Current folder.

*Helpful tips:
-Describe the main character using a personality trait and explain how he/she has demonstrated it.
-Types of conflict:
1) external-a struggle or clash between opposing characters or outside forces (ex:  The man in the yellow suit wants to kidnap Winnie so she can help him sell the magical spring water.)

2) internal-a struggle or clash involving the character's emotion (ex.  Winnie wants to run away from home because her family is overprotective, but she is fearful of surviving on her own.)
