This week, students have begun drafting their narrative composition. When choosing their topic, they were asked to think about a time when they experienced something for the first time. As we come to the end of our ELA unit on the theme, "Growth and Change," they will also be analyzing the the significance this experience had on them.
All of the brainstorming has been done in their Common Core Coach workbook. While in the computer lab today, students began typing the draft for their composition. Each created a document in their Google account in the Drive section. This will allow them to have access to it in another class or at home.
On the agenda next week is to continue to edit their draft before turning in their final composition. The use of transitions, interesting word choice, and literary devices are just some ways that they can make improvements.
A copy of the grading rubric is available from the File Cabinet on the 6th grade home page.
